Toy Run 2005

28th Annual TOY RUN

The Daytona 200 M/C had its 28th Annual Toys for Our Kids Poker Run to benefit Our Children’s First on Sunday Nov. 20th. As we know Mother Nature is very cruel to humans through out the world. She also decided to cause havoc on our Toy Run. 175 determined riders challenged the elements with warm hearts for charity. Riders were greeted by Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus (Joe & Cindy), Krispy Kreme donuts and coffee. The toys brought in were plentiful.

The 60 mile run headed to Blackie’s Saloon, Dales’s Ale, Shady Oaks Tavern and finally Trader Jack’s Roadside in Deland. Hosts Becky and Mike could not have been more accommodating. The BBQ had every one licking their chops. The house rocked with The Bruce Coale Band donating their time. Over 600 Door/Raffle, and live Auction items with a face value of $18,200.00 awaited the riders. I doubt if any run or rally in Fla. can state that claim. No one left with out without a prize item, and some with 5 to 10 items. Over all community support was incredible. This was done without the help for the 5th straight year from K toys and Toys R Us. Also two Bike Dealer’s BMW of Daytona, and Bankston's Kawasaki refused to help us.

Kevin of JZR Custom Cycles, one of 20 sponsors, is a Veteran Navy Seal and led the Pledge of Allegiance. A silent prayer in memory of four recent members, Jeff Smith, Frank Petrock, Papa Joe Tamarazzo, and Kim Comeau was heart warming. Club Challenge winners were CMA, Chrome Divas, and Daytona HOG

With the kick back of 50-50 and the top dice roll hand we were extremely pleased to generate $9,252.00 for the kids at Our Children’s First, despite the rainy weather. Fran Moccia O.C.F director was overwhelmed by our effort. Mike Ramer did his usual great job as Auctioneer. Biker’s are the most charitable people on earth and deserve more recognition. Yes if you attended this event you got wet at times, but everyone seemed to be having a good time to start the Holiday Season. Thanks to all who attended, and support by the members of the Club to make a lot of children happy at Christmas time. Till next year wishing you the best of health. Racer Rich

175 Bikes showed up in the rain and cold
