Toy Run 2008 (0200).jpg
421 viewsOn Nov. 23rd. the Daytona 200 M/C held their 31th Annual Toys for Our Kids Bike Run to benefit “Our Children First / A Child’s Dream. With a perfect weather day, the 426 riders began the run at the 200 Clubhouse on U S 92. Riders were welcomed in the morning by Mr. & Mrs. Santa Claus with coffee and donuts from Krispy Kreme. This year’s ride ran through the country roads with stops at Critter’s Pub, Dale’s Ale, and the Shady Oak Tavern. The final destination was Trader Jacks Roadside in Deland, where riders were treated to Jim and Lisa’s BBQ plate donated by them. Music was by the Big Rick and the Troublemakers. Their Biker Blues music made for agreat Party Atmosphere. The prizes were in abundance, with door/raffle prizes totaling 588. The live auction was presented by Jay Lloyd from the auto auction. He did an incredible job. A total of 48 auction items from various resorts, Nascar, retailers and many others, made the auction very popular and successful. Total retail value of all items donated was $21,100.00. Now, that’s an incentive to ride our Toy Run The winners of the dice roll, each won $150.00 for high and low score. 200 Club member Alleen Fields had the winning 50/50 ticket worth $367.00 and donated it back to the charity. Club Challenge was won by the Daytona HOG chapter with a showing of 38 riders. The Southern Cruisers and Blue Knights settled for 2nd. and 3rd. The total revenue benefit for Our Children’s First was $11,933.00 plus an abundance of toys, which were given to Director Fran Moccia at O.C.F.

Many thanks go out to all the sponsors and donors who helped make this Toy Run our best ever. Also, thanks to the members of the Club for all their effort. Needless to say, without the Bikers participation and digging deep in their pockets during these hard times there would be no charity for our kids in need at Christmas time. The brotherhood and sisterhood of bikers continue to show they have the biggest hearts of any group of people. Thanks to each and every one of you. In closing on behalf of our club we hope you have a very Blessed Holiday Season, and Best wishes for the New Year….

Leesburg-08.jpg
405 viewsSeveral Club Riders and a few Guests showed up at Glennwood Landing to prepare for the Ride to Leesburg. Some of the Members chose to head straight up, while 9 of us took a back road ride to the Mason Jar for lunch. Leaving the Restaurant we ran into a couple just fresh back from Leesburg. What they had to tell us wasn't pretty. The road in was lined with bikes and several places the line was at a dead stop. So we took a vote, do we head on into the stop and go traffic of Leesburg or go for a ride. It was Leesburg- 0, Ride- 9. So off we were. We rode to Gator Joes, then on to Duck's Dam Diner. Now I know we like to Ride to eat and Eat to ride, but we didn't stop at either one of them. We did however stop at Moss Bluff at the Dam where we found a sign which read "Vehicles may be destroyed by Wildlife". Luckily we were living a Mild Life that day, so no Bikes were dammaged!

Leaving Moss Bluff we were off through the woods in search of the ever elusive Ice Cream Store. Stopping at the Citco on RT 40, we discovered that in Barberville there was an Ice Cream Truck set-up. So off we were! Come to find out that they have been setting up there for the last 3 years on weekends. Now how could we not have known that as often as we pass through Barberville?

After a cone and some more chatting we split up to make our way home. All in all it was a Great Day with Good Friends and lots of Fun.
