2006 Toy Run a HUGE Success

    By: Fred Martz

The weather could not have been better as almost 300 Riders showed for this years run. Registration went smoothly as Club Members volunteered their time to be there to help. Tickets for the 50/50 Drawing brought in over $800.00 giving the winner $421.00! Raffle Tickets were going fast as well, not only at the Club House, but at the first stop where they were completely sold out! There were over 240 Door Prizes given away and over 200 Raffle Prizes.

The Ride was well planned out giving Riders a scenic view of some of the areas back roads. Overheard were comments of “I’d never find my way back here again” and “I’m glad someone in our group knows where we’re going”. All Riders seemed to have a great time.

Trader Jacks (located on Rt 17 North of Deland) once again went above and beyond to provide a wonderful experience for all the Riders, from the cooking of the food to organizing parking. We are very thankful to them and recommend to all who Ride that they stop in and say hello to Mike and Becky.

The Standard Time Band donated their time as they played for several hours keeping the crowd entertained. Our Thanks to them as well.

Mike the Auctioneer and his friend Les did a wonderful job in helping to raise over $3000.00 from the auction as the Riders dug deep into their pockets to help out these needy children. Those who helped with the Auction kept things flowing and everyone seemed to have a good time.

In their first year of organizing the run, Tommy and Patty were outstanding. Rich once again pitched in (we knew he couldn’t give it completely up) and helped to do “whatever it takes” to make this run a success. Thanks to all of those who worked behind the scenes gathering prizes, contacting sponsors, and helping out wherever asked. With out you none of this would happen.

Fran from Our Children First was on hand (and she’s a biker) to talk about the Kids and why we do this run. You just never know how you or someone you know might need their help. Thanks to Fran for being there.

Lastly thanks to the many Riders who mad this day a success. With you generosity we were able to raise $????.00(amount total will be figured and will be posted after next busiess meeting) for Our Children First/ A Child’s Dream. Way to Go TEAM!
