On a very overcast day 22 brave souls met for the first ride of the year.

I was amazed at the turnout, I guess everyone is ready to put the holidays behind them. We took Rt.1 to Rt.13 into Hastings to ride along the St. Johns River and a stop for lunch at the Outback Crab Shack.

With a full tummy we headed down the back roads to St. Augustine for Ice Cream. Always a challenge to find parking, we circled the town parade style for a couple of laps and ended up in front of the old fort. A short walk found us on St. George Street looking thru a window at the homemade fudge, candied apples, and all the other treats.

It didn't take long for all of us to q-up for the Ice cream. As we were enjoying our spoils the darker clouds started to roll in and not wanting to press our luck any farther it was time to split up for the ride home. My group was to head south via A1A. Just across the Bridge of Lions it started to sprinkle, which sent us heading for the cover. Buy the ! time it took us to put our rain gear on the sprinkle turned into heavy rain. Riding slow and steady we made it down to Marineland where it ended. Over all I would say it was a great first ride and a way to christen the New Year by washing away the old.

The Deland, Orange City Group headed down US1 and ran head long into a Gully Wash of a storm. Ducked into a Service Station til it let up some then headed out again. Ran most of the way back in rain until just North of 40 on 11 where it started to dry out.

Once more it was a NEW DAY of A NEW YEAR with Great Friends, Good food and a Fantastic Day even with the rain. A Good start to the New Year 2007
